Repentance

The Hebrew word for repentance is teshuvah which means to turn back to God or to return to God.

Turning back to God is not the same as turning away from sin.

We can turn away from sin but still not turn back to God. However, when we turn back to God we leave our sin behind.

It is not enough to turn away from our sin, we must turn back to God.

Lamentations 3:40

Let us examine and probe our ways, and let us return to the LORD.
