What is Eternal Life

What is eternal life?…

John 17:3

“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

The Hebrew word for know is da’at which means to know someone personally as opposed to knowing about them.

We can learn about George Washington by reading books and watching documentaries but we can never know George Washington personally.

Da’at is how two best friends know each other or how a parent knows their child.

Jesus equates eternal life with knowing God and Himself personally.

So…

Do you know the one true God (or did you just read about Him in a book)?

Do you have eternal life?
