In the Stars

According to Hebrew thought when God created the heavens and the earth He literally wrote His message of salvation in the stars of the heavens and this can be seen in the first chapter of the book of Genesis.  This message of salvation is called The Seven Thousand Year Plan of God.  Each day in the first chapter of Genesis represents a one thousand year period…

Psalm 90:4 (NIV)
A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.

Day one goes from year 0 to year 999, day two goes from year 1000 to year 1999, etc. and most importantly day seven, the day the trumpet will sound and the Messiah will come, begins in the year 6000.

According to the Jewish calendar we are living in the year 5773 (at the time of this writing) which equates to the sixth day in Genesis.  This number is derived by adding the generations of who begat who starting with Adam and Seth plus the years the kings of Israel reigned, etc.

However by counting the years in this way there are still years missing so the year 5773 is not entirely accurate.  Most Hebrew scholars estimate that the number of missing years is somewhere between 200-250.  And if you add 200 years (the low estimate) to the year 5773 you get 5973 which is only 27 years from the year 6000 when the seventh day will begin and Jesus will return.

If you take the year 5773 and subtract 2013 (the year of this writing) you get the year 3760, the year Jesus was born.  3760 equates to the fourth day as per Genesis chapter one so Jesus was born on the fourth day.

Throughout the Bible you will see the phrases the great day or in that day

Joel 2:31
“The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.”

Zephaniah 1:14
Near is the great day of the LORD, near and coming very quickly; listen, the day of the LORD!  In it the warrior cries out bitterly.

Jude 1:6
And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,

Amos 8:9
“It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “That I will make the sun go down at noon and make the earth dark in broad daylight.”

Isaiah 27:1
In that day the LORD will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, with His fierce and great and mighty sword, even Leviathan the twisted serpent; and He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.

John 14:20
In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

All verses which contain these phrases are referring to the seventh day  - the day Jesus will set His foot down on the mount of Olives - the day He will judge the nations - the day He will establish His new kingdom on earth.  And this seventh day will last for one thousand years…

Revelation 20:4
Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Throughout the Bible you will also see the phrase the third day

Exodus 19:11
and let them be ready for the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.

Exodus 19:16
So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.

Hosea 6:2
He will revive us after two days;
He will raise us up on the third day,
That we may live before Him.

Matthew 17:22, 23
And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.

Putting it all together, if Jesus was born on the fourth day and you add the third day you get the seventh day.  In other words “the great day”, “in that day” and “the third day” are all referring to the same day, namely the seventh day.  So when Jesus said that He would “be raised on the third day He meant it in both a literal way - when He rose from the dead after being in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights (Matthew 12:40) after His crucifixion - and He also meant it in a prophetic way by saying that He will return on the seventh day as our victorious King.

So what does all of this have to do with God’s message of salvation which He wrote in the stars of the heavens in the first chapter of Genesis?

It is simply this…

Genesis 1:16-19
God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Both Jesus and the two great lights (the Moon and the Sun) were born on the fourth day. The lesser light represents Jesus the suffering Servant (Mashiach ben Yosef) who came to earth in human form during His first coming and the greater light represents Jesus the victorious King (Mashiach ben David) who will return to earth in heavenly form during His second coming - which will be on the seventh day or three days after His first coming.

So God literally wrote His message for the salvation of Mankind in the stars of the heavens as described in Genesis chapter one.

So…

Have you looked up into the heavens lately?

Did you see Jesus?

Footnote:  It is also thought that when Satan saw the message of salvation that God had written in the stars he created a message of his own in an attempt to confuse and mislead Mankind.  And the message that Satan created is what we call Astrology today.  Satan has used the signs of the Zodiac to subvert and corrupt God’s original message in the hope of leading us astray.  A strategy that has been quite successful.  There really is power and truth in Astrology, unfortunately the source of this power and truth is Satan and not the Lord.  Satan is indeed a very clever adversary.
